President's Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Columbia University Club of Washington DC, a non-profit organization founded in 1886, drawing from graduates of all the schools of Columbia University. We sponsor and host social, cultural and community service events where members may continue their general educations, engage in lively discussions, and meet interesting and well-connected Columbians.

We are also a member of the newly formed One Ivy Group with has a reciprocity agreement for invitations and discounts to select programs offered by the other Ivy University Clubs.

Our recent events have included a reception with the Chinese Ambassador at the Chinese Embassy, a visit from University President Lee Bollinger, a Holiday Party at the Mansion on O Street and a One Ivy reception with Washington DC Mayor Adrian Fenty.

For a sample of our future events, go to the Upcoming Events section of this website. Many of our events are advertized through e-mails to club members. By joining CUCDC you will receive invitations to and reminders of these events, as well as the members’ rate.

You can join the Club and register for many of the events online using PayPal. By joining the CUCDC you will receive discounts to many events, as well as special invitations to programs sponsored by other One Ivy Clubs. Our members have received invitations to select events sponsored by the Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Penn, Princeton and Yale Clubs.

If you are already a paid member of the Barnard in Washington Club you may join CUCDC for just $15 more. That’s two club memberships for the price of one!

We welcome the input and participation of alumni through suggestions and service. We are always looking for ideas for programs, special events, and networking opportunities. If you don’t see an event that appeals to you, let us know what you would like to see by contacting us.

If you would like to become more involved in the Club, we will be electing a new Board at the end of June. Please contact us at cucdc@hotmail.com for more details if you are interested in serving a two year term.

One of our greatest needs is volunteers with experience in designing or maintaining a website. In the future, we would like to maintain an online bulletin board for members. If you would like to help out send us an e-mail to cucdc@hotmail.com I hope to see you at one of our events in 2008.
